Open Eyes

Open eyes is a photo series of multiple projects produced by Kevin del Rio. The projects consist of a wide range of visual topics to get the viewers to think about how the world operates. In order to understand, you first have to see. The magic happens in the reflection process after viewing each project. Forging Champions invites you to join the visual external journey, so you can start an inner reflective voyage.

Where the Virtual World Lives: Landlines (2021)

Something we are born into. In the back of our minds we ignore it sitting there lingering in the sky. It gives us power for our house and connects us to each other, yet we cant see our beautiful sky. Landlines block the natural world to open a new world to us. A digital world that runs through the wires. A layer above, it holds some type of power. It connects people across boroughs, states, countries, and continents. No borders are drawn in the new landscape. A beacon of light hidden in its wires. A phenomenon that's been shaping our life. We don't draw our conscious attention to these lines but we are connected to them all the time. The city can't run efficiently without digital transportation, because it literally transformed the nation.

Imagine the possibility of repurposing the landlines, clearing the skies of its wire that hang and putting them to new use. Imagine coiling up the landlines to create a free energy system that does not only benefit one, but it benefits all. It is not impossible, a free energy system can be created. With new ways to financial support, the people can all chip into an idea like this. 100 years ago scientists did not have the access to people to support their ideas. Thanks to Nikola Tesla they now have the possibility of support through the digital/electric age. By getting public support from a global range this idea can come to life.
